Taste of Melbourne

It was a hard job but someone had to do it....

We packed the pram on Friday afternoon and headed to "Taste of Melbourne" It's a festival of Melbourne's premier restaurants, where they come together to showcase a selection of signature dishes and wines. Also you can chat with local chef's and sample exclusive menus all cooked with local produce. It's the ultimate dining experience, with everything "foodie fabulous" that Melbourne has to offer.

My highlite was definitely Nobu. We had the Yellowtail Jalapeno with Yuzu Soy - delish! But what made it even tastier was the friendly maitre d' who was just so taken with my wee one. He gave us complimentary sake drinking cups and invited us to dine at the restaurant - mentioning that they are very child friendly. He was very sweet and l must say we will be making a visit - although l think I'll get a sitter!

From Nobu we went to Movida and sampled their stunning Braised Beef with Spanish paprika, saffron and potatoes, which was melt in the mouth! We enjoyed a glass of bubbles at Chandon, a smooth red wine at Vinea Marson and for our sweet-tooth we had the cutest cupcakes from Babycakes.

With out boring you - in a nutshell it was an AMAZING night with loads of great wine and foodie delights. And although there were so many great stalls I've only really scratched the surface and mentioned the stand-outs. Having said that it's a must for anyone loving everything to do with wine and food - put it in your diary for next year. Oh and by the way - VERY child friendly - with loads of room to move and food suitable for even the fussiest of palettes!

We are off to Taste of Melbourne!!

My little man, big man and myself are off to Taste of Melbourne this afternoon. It's a food and wine festival featuring over 40 local resturants, cafes and wineries.

We can’t wait! I'm seriously having a lite lunch to leave room for dinner, nibbles, wine and anything else that will be on offer. I'll be keeping a look out for restaurants and cafes we can feature on our website, as well as everything exciting to do with food!

Will give a full report when l return - wish me luck!
May our glasses be filled and our dishes be scrapped clean....

Did someone say Granny Undies?

What a week! And it's only Wednesday! We haven't been to any cool places this week but have had plenty of recommendations. Looks like we will be heading to the South of Melbourne over the next month.

This week we have been working on our monthly Newsletter which you can subscribe to through the website. We want the Newsletter to be a bit of fun so we've added a little something for everyone - even Dad. Seems its Fashion Week in September we've decided to take a different approach. I don't know about you but l can't juggle a change room, a pram and an 8 month old baby in trendy boutiques. Even this young and he already hates shopping. Although I'm not as concerned about anyone seeing me half naked now as l was before a gave birth to my son. I even think the resident janitor popped his head in to say "Hi" when l was in labour. Hey and why not everybody else was there to see all. So care factor if someone sees me in my granny undies or bra! So instead of you going to fashion week we thought we would give you an idea to bring it to your home.
Also we are in LOVE with Cakes next month - and who isn't may l add. Although l must confess l have loved them since childhood. And last but not least we have an exciting place for you to take Dad on Fathers Day if you haven't already thought of somewhere.
So stay warm and give your bubba loads of cuddles!

Have a magical week!

Where's my chair mum?

l don't want to get on my high horse and come across as a whiney mum but l just don’t understand why some cafes refuse to supply something simple like a highchair for their customers. l was in a busy cafe today in the grungy northern suburbs and no chair! Surely it's not hard to whip down to Ikea and grab a couple??? It’s my one and only gripe for the day. Needless to say they won't be making the website - which is a shame because the food and service was great. Also spotted about four other mothers battling to get their little man or lady to stay put in the grown-up chairs.

Enjoy your weekend!

Do something a little different today....

Sometimes you get discouraged,
Because I am so small
And leave my little fingerprints
On furniture and walls.
But everyday I'm growing
And soon I'll be tall
That all these little fingerprints
Will be difficult to recall.
So here's a little handprint
That you can put away
So you will know how my fingers looked
On this special day.

Take the time today to do a little art....

Our first Month so far

One month already! Oh my goodness time certainly does fly by. It's been one month since we went "Live" with the Hey Bambini website - and what a month it's been! We currently have 28 cafes listed on our site with some still up our sleeve to post.
We visited Ceres Nursery Cafe yesterday and enjoyed the sunshine and today we venture out to Moonee Ponds - so stay tuned and they will be added shortly to the website.

Enjoy your weekend.

We are going out of town to find more exciting places for you to visit as the warmer months approach.

Enjoy!

Go West, East and South!

We always love an adventure and this week we packed the car and headed west, east and south. What a week, so many cafes to visit and so many coffee's to have without having a caffine overload! We've added six new little cafes which we think you will love.
Make sure you keep warm
Enjoy!

P.S Check out the website for a more detailed review for all six cafes.
