Shopping for Baby in Japan

As you may or may not know our family has
just recently returned from a holiday in Japan.

It was a wonderful trip with the two bubbas
filled with amazing food, shopping and sites.

But before l got to do the fun stuff l had
to organise the essentials for the kids.

So first on my “to do” list when we hit Japan
was to locate nappies, milk and wipes.

I must admit it was a little hard at first as Kyoto
dosen’t have a nappy shop on every street corner and believe
it or not they don’t sell baby items at the supermarket.

Most baby items are available in Japan but can be
very hard to locate especially when you’re not a local,
but with a little patience and a sense of adventure
you’ll be kitting out the bubbas before you know it and be on
your way to exploring the beautiful and amazing Japan.

Here is a list of nappy brands – some l used and some
l didn’t but l thought l would still share anyway!

Nappy Brands

Pigeon
Merries
Pampers
Mamypoko
Moony Diapers
Nepia Genki!

We used Pampers for most of the trip and they were FANTASTIC.

The Merries and the Mamypoko were OK but they leaked a few times
which meant l had to carry a spare change of clothes for the big bubba.

Where to BUY

In Japan the department stores stock a wide variety of
nappies, breast pads, bottles, wipes and other baby needs

Mitsukoshi
Fukuya
I-seten
Diamaru
Matsuya

Also local drug stores stock all your baby needs. l didn't
happen to grab any names as they were all in Japanese!

To get a cheeky peek of some of the products I've
mentioned see here for more info and prices.

About Last Weekend

We were lucky enough to help celebrate a friends birthday
last weekend at the AMAZING Wolseley Winery.

It's a picturesque boutique winery situated
on the gentle rolling hills of Paraparap
- which is a short drive from Torquay.

In the warmer months they have twilight concerts at
the winery and for a small cost of $10 (entry fee) you can
listen great LIVE music and purchase wine at Cellar Door Prices.

Kids are MOST welcome and you can also bring your own picnic
or snack on the delicious home-made wood fired pizzas
which are made fresh daily on the premises.

My 2 year old had a wonderful time roaming around with his friends
in the vineyard and having a cheeky 'boogie' on the dance floor.

For a change of scenery that is FAMILY friendly pop Wolseley on your "to-do-list"

The perfect place to visit this summer!

It's in the bag Baby!

It feels like a few weeks ago but I’m sure it was a
few months back that Borne Naked sent me there wonderful
bags and asked me to use them and write about it.

I have been using the bags – oh yes l have, but
I’ve just been too busy to stop and write about it.

Never heard of Borne Naked?
The here is a little something about them...

The Borne Naked is a handbag liner that organises and
de-clutters your handbag, making it quicker and
easier
than ever to transfer your essentials from one bag to the other

Now sometimes l can be a little cynical when it
comes to bloggers bangin on about products –
yes we all know they sent it to you for FREE!
And surely the blogger is just blowing wind up this
brands skirt so they can ‘say thanks for the freebie’
via a long post about how wonderful these products really are.

Oh how WRONG l was.

And l take back everything l just said above
regarding free stuff – bloggers and wind.

This bag has changed my life – alleluia brother!

l don’t know about everyone else but l'm forever losing
lip gloss, loose change and even my jewellery because
my bag is so cluttered with – well simply- junk!

Well come to think of it – it’s not junk and to be
honest l haven’t used MY handbag for months.

My handbag now is also known as the nappy bag.

Yep that’s right mixed in with the “junk” such as wipes, nappies,
spare baby clothes, crayons and trucks is my purse,
phone, house keys and whatever else l need for the day.
And let me tell you it’s very hard to answer your phone
when it’s hiding between the baby Panadol and change mat.

Viola – l grab my Borne Naked Liner and put all “my things” inside the
clear zip lock bag which the sits nicely inside the kids nappy bag.

Results: Answering the phone before it goes to
message bank and never losing a lip gloss again!

HOORAH!

If your nappy bag needs organising then this
is the perfect bag liner to get your hands on!

From envelops, coin purses and chocolate tins...

She came in all shapes, sizes and items.

Welcome 2011

Welcome 2011!

l know l am 10 days late but we've been on a
family holiday in Japan for the past few weeks.

So our Christmas and New Years was a little different this year.

There was no turkey, pudding or presents (except for the kids)

No hot days, beach trips or boxing day sales for us

Instead it was filled with cups of hot Green Tea, fresh Sushi,
cold cans of Sapporro Beer, Hello Kitty,
cute Japanese stationary and a trip to Disneyland

We had a wonderful time with the whole family
(10 of us actually!)
and we had so many amazing experiences.

l was actually AMAZED how child friendly Japan is and
l have so many tips to share from Dining Out to Touring About.

l even have tips on what nappies to buy and where and also useful
tips about their fabulous changing facilities and breastfeeding etiquette.

We hope you all had a fantastic summer break with
your families and l can't wait to bring you
more child friendly cafe reviews in 2011.
