A Brave 35 Years Young

It was my birthday  a few Sunday's ago. I was 35. I was especially excited about my birthday this year as the date coincided with the launch of Disney / Pixar “Brave” into cinemas – well the preview for invited guests anyway. Pretty much it was a match made in heaven, my birthday, a trip to the cinema and spending time with my boys. What more could one want really, because as you get older the birthday’s just seem to blend into each other but l know I’ll remember this one.

My kids have a slight obsession with Disney DVD’s at our place and l only have myself to blame really. You see a favourite childhood memory of mine is watching Disney Videos on a cold winter’s day.  Videos – yes videos, a device my kids will never encounter. I got so much enjoyment as a child from watching films. Still do. So if there is one thing l’d like to pass onto my wee ones is the joy and escapism of film.

Mr 3 was VERY excited about going to the movies to see Brave. Mr Bambini – not so much. You see Mr Bambini had a hang-over from the previous night’s man-cave festivities. He had no one else to blame but himself and l wasn’t going to let him ruin my day moaning about his sore head, so l still dragged him along. The constant playing of bags pipes for about an hour was the best touch this mamma could have asked for. Take that! I told him to take it easy before l left him to his own devices at the pub. I have no sympathy for self-inflicted drinking head aches and he wasn’t going to ruin all the plans l had made for the day.
Mr 3 and I LOVED the movie, there were some bears, who were little scary (in true Disney tradition), along with an old creepy witch, some cute little red heads and a shite load of arrows and tartan garments. Here’s a little tid-bit….HERE

Set in Scotland in a rugged and mythical time, Brave follows the story of Merida, a young fiery red head teenager who struggles with finding herself, with creating her own destiny. Merida makes a reckless choice that unleashes unintended peril and forces her to spring into action to set things right. It’s a story of courage and above all true bravery.

Put Brave on you school holiday to-do-list. It’s a little bit of Disney magic for the whole family, even the hung-over ones too! Melbourne session times HERE peeps!
